Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Long-pending work resumes on Package 9 of Vadodara-Virar section

Valsad: Construction activity has resumed on Package 9 of the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway’s Vadodara–Virar section after the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) remotely issued cure period notices to the contractor for unsatisfactory progress.

Package 9, spanning approximately 26.6 km, stretches from Karvad village near NH-56 to Jujwa village at the Valsad interchange on Dharampur Road. The package serves as a crucial connectivity link between the Vapi and Valsad interchanges.

Recently, NHAI terminated the contract of Roadway Solutions India Infra Ltd for Package 8 of the same corridor due to poor performance. The authority also issued 60-day cure period notices for Packages 9 and 10, instructing the contractor to address delays or face possible termination.

Following the termination of Package 8 and warning notices for the remaining stretches, construction work on Package 9 has gained momentum.

Construction Progress

According to on-ground visuals shared by YouTube vloggers, Dry Lean Concrete (DLC) work and pending earthwork have resumed at multiple locations along Package 9.

In several sections, earthwork has been completed and the Granular Sub-Base (GSB) layer is now visible. However, construction activity has not yet commenced uniformly across the entire stretch.

At the NH-56 interchange, pillar construction for the flyover is currently underway, while ramp construction remains at the earthwork stage.

As per available reports, around 10 per cent of the work had been completed as of mid-January. With construction resuming after months of stagnation, there is renewed hope that the project will now progress at an accelerated pace. DeshGujarat
