Gujarat ATS ASI killed in road accident on SP Ring Road

Ahmedabad: In a horrific road accident near the Tragad underpass on the busy SP Ring Road early this morning, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) serving with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) lost his life.
According to preliminary information, the ASI was travelling on his two-wheeler along SP Ring Road when an unknown vehicle hit him. The impact threw him onto the road. Tragically, he reportedly came under the wheels of a concrete crusher machine coming from behind and was dragged for around 100 metres, leading to his immediate death.
Soon after the accident was reported, local police and L Division traffic police personnel rushed to the spot. The body of the deceased officer was shifted to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police have launched an investigation and are searching for the unidentified driver who fled the scene after the collision.
The accident caused traffic congestion on SP Ring Road for some time. Authorities removed the damaged vehicles and cleared the roadway. CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.
The deceased ASI, Ajit Nande, was serving as an MT Supervisor with the ATS. He was returning to his home in Naroda after completing his duty when the accident occurred. A case has been registered by the L Division traffic police, and further investigation is underway. DeshGujarat
