Gold smuggling attempt thwarted at Ahmedabad airport

Ahmedabad: Customs officials at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in the city seized 601.94 grams of 24-karat gold, valued at approximately ₹96.07 lakh, from a passenger who arrived from Dubai on SpiceJet flight SG-016.
According to Customs officials, the gold was concealed in a pocket purse and in paste form hidden inside the passenger’s undergarment in an attempt to evade detection. The passenger has been detained, and the seized gold has been taken into custody under relevant provisions of the Customs Act.
