AMC staffers to get cashless treatment at SVP Hospital; Yellow Fever vaccine centres to expand

Ahmedabad: The Standing Committee of the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday approved key proposals related to employee welfare and public health facilities during its weekly meeting.

Addressing the media, Standing Committee Chairman  Devang Dani announced that a major decision has been taken keeping in mind the health security of AMC employees. Around 24,000 regular employees and nearly 17,000 pensioners will now receive the benefit of cashless medical treatment at SVP Hospital.

Earlier, employees had to first pay for treatment and later claim reimbursement from the corporation. The new decision removes the need for upfront payment and allows direct cashless treatment, ensuring immediate medical care without financial burden during emergencies.

The committee also discussed international travel health requirements. Since vaccination against Yellow Fever is mandatory for citizens travelling from Ahmedabad to African countries, AMC has decided to expand vaccination facilities. Until now, the vaccine was administered only at the Health Bhavan in the Central Zone, where approximately 9,900 people were vaccinated last year before travelling to Africa.

With Ahmedabad now spread across nearly 480 square kilometres, the civic body will start providing Yellow Fever vaccination services in both the West Zone and East Zone to make access easier for residents and reduce travel inconvenience.

The chairman said the decisions aim to strengthen employee welfare while simultaneously improving public health services for citizens. DeshGujarat
