Surat: In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure in South Gujarat, the state government has proposed the construction of a general hospital and three state-of-the-art super-specialty hospitals in the Kamrej Assembly constituency. The integrated hospital campus is planned to be developed over 30.55 hectares at an estimated cost of ₹1,450 crore, with an initial budgetary provision of ₹250 crore for the financial year 2026–27.

The project will include a 1,500-bed general broad-specialty hospital, along with three 500-plus-bed super-specialty hospitals dedicated to cardiac and neuro care, urology and nephrology, and cancer treatment. All facilities will be developed in an integrated manner within a single campus, creating one of the largest medical hubs in South Gujarat.

The project is expected to strengthen regional healthcare services while also promoting medical tourism, medical education, research, and emergency care in the region.

Minister of State for Health Praful Pansheriya stated that the upcoming integrated hospitals will significantly enhance healthcare access and advanced treatment facilities across South Gujarat, helping Surat secure a strong position on the country’s medical tourism map.
