Ahmedabad: The minimum temperature in Ahmedabad settled at 20.5°C on Thursday, nearly five degrees above normal, indicating a steady rise in night-time temperatures across the state. The city had recorded a maximum of 31.5°C on February 19, marginally above the seasonal average.

According to the weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) this morning, warm conditions prevailed across most parts of Gujarat, with several centres reporting minimum temperatures significantly above normal.

In Vadodara, the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.4°C, which is 5°C above normal, while Bhavnagar registered 22.4°C, also nearly 5°C above the average. Surat recorded a minimum of 20.2°C, about 2.1°C above normal, along with 4 mm of rainfall, making it the only station in the state to report precipitation during the period.

Rajkot saw one of the highest maximum temperatures in the state at 34.7°C, 3.3°C above normal, with the minimum settling at 19.8°C. Bhuj and Deesa also recorded above-normal night temperatures at 18.2°C and 17.6°C, respectively.

In coastal areas, Okha recorded a minimum of 21.2°C, while Veraval reported 20.4°C. Diu and Porbandar witnessed comparatively cooler nights at 16.8°C and 16.4°C, respectively, though Diu’s humidity levels were notably high in the evening at 75 per cent.

Humidity levels at 0830 IST ranged between 51 per cent in Veraval and 83 per cent in Daman, indicating moderate to high moisture levels across coastal and south Gujarat regions.

No rainfall was reported from any station except Surat, and overall weather conditions across Gujarat remained dry and warm, with both day and night temperatures trending above normal in several districts.

The rise in minimum temperatures suggests a gradual transition towards warmer conditions as the state moves further into the latter half of February. DeshGujarat
