Customs Seize 75 Prohibited Drones in Six Months at Ahmedabad Foreign Post Office
February 21, 2026
Ahmedabad: Customs officials have seized around 75 prohibited drones from parcels received from abroad at the Foreign Post Office in the Shahibaug area of the city and have launched an investigation.
The value of each seized drone ranges between ₹50,000 and ₹1 lakh. Earlier, passengers had attempted to bring such drones through Ahmedabad airport. With increased vigilance and stricter confiscation at the airport, these drones are now being ordered through international parcels routed via the Foreign Post Office.
According to customs officials, drones equipped with high-frequency or low-frequency communication systems are not permitted to be imported. The Central Government has imposed restrictions on the import of such drones, and only authorised defence agencies are allowed to import them for security purposes.
Officials said around 75 drones have been seized from the Foreign Post Office in Ahmedabad over the past six months. Of these, 40 have been transferred to the Customs headquarters in Mumbai. The seized drones are subsequently handed over to national security agencies.
Despite the prohibition on importing such drones through airports or postal channels, some individuals continue to place orders from abroad. Customs authorities have initiated further investigation to trace the source of the consignments and identify the intended recipients. DeshGujarat
