Centre Approves ₹647 Crore NH-56 Widening and Upgradation Project in Valsad

Valsad: A major infrastructure push has been announced for South Gujarat, with ₹647.20 crore approved for the upgradation and widening of the Khanpur–Karvad section of NH-56 in Valsad district.

According to a Facebook post by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, the project will upgrade the existing stretch to a 4-lane and 2-lane with paved shoulder configuration.

“In Gujarat, ₹647.20 crore has been approved for the upgradation and widening of the Khanpur–Karvad section of NH-56 in Valsad district to a 4-lane / 2-lane with paved shoulder configuration,” the post stated.

He further stated that the project includes the construction of a rigid pavement road along with five major bridges. The use of concrete pavement will accommodate increased traffic loads and enhance durability, especially in the high-rainfall conditions of Valsad. Out of the total 45 km stretch, 21.25 km passing through built-up areas will be widened to a 4-lane configuration. Improved road safety features and upgraded intersections will ensure safer and smoother movement for commuters.

The development is expected to significantly strengthen regional connectivity and facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers. It is likely to boost trade, support local industries, generate employment opportunities, and contribute to the overall socio-economic growth of the region. DeshGujarat
