Ahmedabad: Sabarmati Railway Station is set to become the latest Metro station in the city under the Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro Rail project. The new station will be located between Ranip and AEC Metro stations, near the RTO–AEC flyover.

According to official sources in the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC), the Sabarmati Metro station is likely to open within the next couple of months. Notably, this is the only under-construction Metro station on the existing North–South corridor, which has a total of 15 stations.

‘At Sabarmati, a high-speed (bullet train) railway station is also coming up. As Sabarmati has two different railway stations, there are two metro stations serving this stretch, and they are connected with various modes. Sabarmati railway station on Ranip side serves the trains moving to Saurashtra area of Gujarat, while on AEC power station (multi-model transportation hub) side, the Metro station is connected through foot over bridge to Delhi-side portion of the railway station, where BRTS connectivity is also linked. While AEC Metro station is already in service, the Ranip side Metro station for Sabarmati Railway Station will open in next couple of months and become the latest to open in the city,’ the official stated.
