Traffic Diversions Announced in Ahmedabad for Bhadrakali Mataji Nagar Yatra

Ahmedabad: The Nagar Yatra of Nagardevi Shri Bhadrakali Mataji is going to be held in Ahmedabad on February 26, 2026. Since a large number of devotees and vehicles are going to participate in this Yatra, the city traffic police have issued a special notification and closed some routes and arranged alternative routes for motorists to ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent accidents.

According to the order issued by Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner G. S. Malik, the traffic diversion will continue to be implemented from 07:00 am on February 26 until the Nagar Yatra is completed. A large number of devotees will gather in this yatra. A large convoy of vehicles including Mataji’s chariot, 3 small elephants, 50 akhada artists, a 26-member Nasik dhol group, 6 sadhu flags, 1 DJ truck, 3 bhajan groups and 50 cars will join the yatra.

Following the route of the yatra, the roads leading to Bhadrakali Temple, Three Gates, Manek Chowk, Fruit Market, Maneknath Temple, Gandhi Road, Bala Hanuman (Khadia), Khadia Char Rasta, Khadia Gate, Sarangpur Chakla, Chhabila Darwaza, Astodia Hanuman, Raipur Darwaza, AMC Office, Khamasa, Jamalpur, Vasant Chowk, Agasiya Hotel and Bijli Ghar will be closed for vehicular movement. Apart from this, the road from Sarangpur Circle to Trikamarai Mandir Road and from Astodia Darwaza to Raipur Chakla will be completely closed. On Sabarmati Riverfront (East), the road from Somnath Bhudar’s Ara Circle to Gujri Bazar Circle on one side will be closed, while the road on the other side will be open.

For the convenience of citizens, the police have announced alternative routes. Motorists will be able to go from Bijlighar intersection to Relief Road via Patwa Sheri, Biscuit Street and Ramkada Market Road. They will be able to go from Dhanasuthar intersection to Mintshal Road via Panchkuva and Kadiakui. They will be able to go to Riverfront (East) via Jamalpur and from Khadia intersection to Zakaria Masjid, Mahalaxmi Mandir, Shivaji Chowk and Relief Road. From ST Bus Stand to Jamalpur Bridge, Jamalpur Darwaza to Gaikwad Haveli, Raikhar Crossroads, Cama Hotel Cut to Khanpur Darwaza and J.P. Chowk to Dinbai Tower will be available for movement.

Students going to appear for board exams and their parents have been given special exemption from these traffic rules. Along with this, this notification will not apply to vehicles associated with the program, vehicles engaged in government duty, fire brigade, ambulance and emergency vehicles passing in emergency situations.

Legal and penal action will be taken against any person violating this notification under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) 2023 and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act. The city police has appealed to the citizens to cooperate in maintaining traffic order. DeshGujarat
