Gujarat Board Exam 2026 Begins Today; Over 16.63 Lakh Students Appear in Class 10, 12

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has commenced the Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board examinations for the academic year 2025–26 from today. The examinations will continue until mid-March, with more than 16.63 lakh students appearing across the state.
Of the total candidates, over 9.07 lakh students are appearing for the Class 10 examinations. In Class 12, more than 5.01 lakh students are from the General stream, over 1.19 lakh from the Science stream, along with candidates appearing for GUJCET.
On the first day, Class 10 students are writing the First Language paper, which includes Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, English, Urdu, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Odia.
For Class 12 students, key subjects including Physics (Science stream) and Sahkar Panchayat (General/Commerce stream) are scheduled on Day 1.
Each paper will be of three hours’ duration. Students have been instructed to reach their respective examination centres at least 30 to 60 minutes before the commencement of the examination.
Candidates have been advised to carefully verify details such as subject name, date and timing mentioned on their admit cards. The hall ticket contains essential information including the student’s name, photograph, registration number, roll number, examination centre details and subject-wise schedule. Carrying the original admit card is mandatory, and entry to the examination hall will not be permitted without it.
Along with the admit card, students must carry a valid school ID card. They are advised to bring blue or black ballpoint pens (preferably extra pens), a transparent water bottle and a clear stationery pouch. Basic stationery items such as pencils, erasers and sharpeners may also be carried, if required for the examination.
The Board has instructed students to carefully fill in details on the OMR sheet, strictly follow instructions issued by invigilators and maintain composure during the examination. Time management and a positive approach have also been emphasised.
The state government and the education department have put in place necessary facilities and security arrangements at examination centres to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the board examinations across the state. DeshGujarat
