Ahmedabad: Four youths from the Kubernagar area died after drowning in the Sabarmati River near Kotarpur Water Works on Wednesday while bathing during Dhuleti celebrations.

According to reports, the friends identified as Sahil, Piyush, Durgesh and Sunny, had gone to the river to bathe when they suddenly began to drown. A passerby who saw them struggling in the water alerted the fire brigade.

Fire personnel rushed to the spot and launched a search operation, recovering the bodies of all four youths. A 108 ambulance team later declared them dead.

Riverfront Police reached the scene after being informed and have registered a case of accidental death. Further investigation is underway. The victims’ families rushed to the spot and were left devastated by the tragedy. DeshGujarat
