Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government informed the State Assembly that a total of 2.85 lakh bank accounts of citizens have been unfrozen in the last two years with the help of the cyber helpline, while an online portal has also been created to allow people to apply for unfreezing their accounts from anywhere.
The information was provided by Deputy Chief Minister (Home) Harsh Sanghavi in the Assembly in reply to a question during the ongoing Budget Session of the Assembly.
According to the reply, 2,47,587 bank accounts were unfrozen between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, while 37,182 accounts were unfrozen between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, taking the total to 2,84,769 accounts.
The government also stated that citizens whose bank accounts are frozen in cybercrime-related investigations can now apply online for unfreezing through a dedicated portal. Due to this facility, applicants can submit requests from anywhere at any time without needing to remain physically present before the authorities.
This online system has reduced inconvenience to innocent citizens whose accounts were frozen during cybercrime investigations and has made the process more transparent and faster.
The government further informed that applicants can check the status of their request by contacting the Cyber Centre of Excellence office on phone number 078-23250798 or by sending a message on WhatsApp number 7861894903 to get updates regarding their application.
The arrangement has been made to ensure quick relief to citizens while maintaining necessary checks in cybercrime cases. DeshGujarat
