Western Railway to Take 90-Day Block for Surat Station Redevelopment Work

Surat: As part of the redevelopment work of Surat Railway Station, a traffic and power block will be imposed for the construction of a through-roof shed between Platforms No. 2, 3, and 4. The block has been approved by the Western Railway Headquarters, Churchgate.

According to railway officials, efforts will be made to minimise the impact on train operations during the block period. If required, freight trains will be diverted through the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) to ensure uninterrupted movement of trains on the main line and to avoid unnecessary delays.

During the block, the operation of some major trains will be modified. The Bandra Terminus–Surat Intercity Express (12935) is expected to temporarily halt at Platform No. 1 at Udhna station instead of Surat. Similarly, the Surat–Amravati Express (20925) may originate from Udhna station instead of Surat, while the Amravati–Surat Express (20926) will also be short-terminated at Udhna station during the block period.

Railway authorities stated that all necessary safety measures will be taken to ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated time. The permission granted for the block will remain valid for the next 90 days. The exact dates of the block will be finalised in coordination with the concerned departments to ensure minimum disruption to train services. DeshGujarat
