Ahmedabad – Udaipur Vande Bharat Express Gets New Halt at Shamlaji Road
March 23, 2026
Asarwa: The Vande Bharat Express train connecting Ahmedabad with Udaipur City has begun a temporary experimental halt at Shamlaji Road railway station from Sunday, March 22.
As per the schedule, Train No. 26964 (Asarwa–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express) arrives at Shamlaji Road at 7:18 pm and departs at 7:20 pm with effect from March 22, 2026.
Similarly, Train No. 26963 (Udaipur City–Asarwa Vande Bharat Express) arrives at Shamlaji Road at 8:28 am and departs at 8:30 am from the same date.
The Ministry of Railways had granted the experimental halt to the semi-high-speed train, which runs six days a week (except Tuesday), earlier this month following a representation from Sabarkantha MP Shobhanaben M. Baraiya, who highlighted the religious importance of the Shamlaji pilgrimage site and the large number of devotees visiting the temple every year.
Notably, even after the addition of the two-minute halt at Shamlaji Road station, the total travel time between Asarwa and Udaipur has remained unchanged.
As per the revised timetable after the addition of the stoppage, Train No. 26963 departs from Udaipur City at 6:10 am and reaches Asarva Junction in Ahmedabad at 10:25 am, halting at Zawar, Dungarpur, Shamlaji Road and Himmatnagar stations along the route. The total distance of 296 km is covered in a little over four hours.
In the return direction, Train No. 26964 leaves Asarva Junction at 5:45 pm and arrives at Udaipur City at 10:00 pm, with stoppages at Himmatnagar, Shamlaji Road, Dungarpur and Zawar.
The Vande Bharat service is expected to benefit passengers travelling between north Gujarat, south Rajasthan and Ahmedabad, improving connectivity, tourism and business travel on the route. DeshGujarat
