Ahmedabad: The city is set to get key sports infrastructure with the inauguration of a state-of-the-art sports complex constructed at Vastral at a cost of over ₹61 crore. The complex is expected to provide a major boost to sports enthusiasts, particularly youth in East Ahmedabad, by offering access to international-standard training facilities. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Gujarat on March 31, will dedicate the facility.
The sports complex, developed on T.P. Scheme No. 114 and F.P. No. 155 in Vastral ward near the S.P. Ring Road, spans a total area of 44,764 square metres. Strategically located, it is easily accessible to players from various parts of the city as well as nearby districts.
The facility offers a wide range of modern amenities for both indoor and outdoor sports. Outdoor facilities include a 400-metre athletics track, a football ground, four tennis courts, and a long jump pit. Indoor facilities comprise courts for badminton, volleyball, and basketball, along with a dedicated hall for table tennis.
Additionally, the complex features a 25 m × 20 m swimming pool equipped with a modern filtration system. A fully equipped gymnasium with steam and jacuzzi facilities has also been developed to support the fitness and recovery needs of athletes.
To support the overall development of players, a centrally air-conditioned library and cafeteria building has been constructed over an area of 1,964 sq m, with a seating capacity of 120 persons. A multipurpose hall is also available for activities such as martial arts, boxing, judo, and yoga.
For hosting large sporting events and competitions, a spectator gallery with seating capacity ranging from 100 to 170 people has been developed. Basement parking facilities for 91 two-wheelers and 40 four-wheelers have also been provided to ensure smooth traffic management.
The newly built sports complex at Vastral is expected to strengthen the sporting culture in East Ahmedabad and emerge as a key centre for nurturing talented athletes for the state and the country. DeshGujarat
