40-Day Traffic Restrictions, Diversions Announced in Parts of Surat for Infrastructure Work
April 02, 2026
Surat: The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has issued an official notification regarding temporary road closures and traffic diversions in the New East (Sarthana) Zone to facilitate essential infrastructure work. From April 5, 2026, to May 15, 2026, the T.P. Road on both sides connecting the Outer Ring Road at Gopin Circle Junction will remain closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The closure is necessitated by a drainage project being carried out under T.P. Scheme No. 84, covering Kosad-Bharthana, Kosad-Mota Varacha, and Abharama.
Traffic Diversion Routes
To minimise public inconvenience, the SMC has outlined the following alternative routes for commuters:
– From Nand Chowk (Mota Varacha) to Ring Road: Commuters should turn left at the Mota Varacha Abharama Check Post Char Rasta, proceed approximately 350 metres, and then turn right towards Kumbhanjan Chowk to reach the Ring Road.
– From Abharama Village to Ring Road: Vehicles and pedestrians can turn right at the Mukh Exotica Char Rasta, travel approximately 280 metres, and then proceed towards the Ring Road.
– From Ring Road to Abharama Village: Drivers are advised to use the Mukh Exotica Char Rasta to reach the village.
– Internal Roads: Commuters are also encouraged to use other available internal roads during this period.
Project Timeline
The restrictions will remain in place until the drainage work is completed, after which the roads will be reopened for public use. The Commissioner’s office has emphasised that these measures are essential for the timely completion of the stormwater network in the Sarthana Zone. DeshGujarat
