ED Ahmedabad Files Chargesheet Against Ex-GLDC Official, Others in ₹8.04 Crore DA Case

Ahmedabad: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint before a district court in Ahmedabad against former field supervisor of the Gujarat Land Development Corporation (GLDC), Anand, Dhirubhai Bababhai Sharma, along with M/s Jalashray Resort Private Limited and its director, Mayank Dhirubhai Sharma.

The court has scheduled April 30 for the appearance of all three accused in the case. Notably, the ED had, in January, provisionally attached assets worth approximately ₹4.92 crore linked to Sharma. These include the ‘Jalashray Resort’ in Nadiad, residential properties, commercial shops, and agricultural land.

The case originates from an FIR registered at the Anand Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) police station. Investigations revealed that between April 1, 2006, and March 31, 2018, Sharma allegedly amassed disproportionate assets worth ₹8.04 crore, about 354.56% more than his known sources of income.

During the probe, the ED found evidence of money laundering. According to the agency, substantial loans were taken in the name of M/s Jalashray Resort Pvt. Ltd., and large amounts of cash were deposited into accounts to repay loan instalments instead of using regular banking channels. The ED stated that such transactions are a classic method of laundering illicit funds.

The resort was reportedly developed on land purchased in 2012 in the names of Sharma’s wife and son. The investigation further revealed that Sharma paid premiums for policies such as LIC and Max Life in cash, with maturity proceeds later routed into personal bank accounts to give them a legitimate appearance.

Suspicious financial transactions were also detected through a firm named ‘Praya Services’, allegedly linked to his daughter-in-law.

Based on these findings, the ED has filed a chargesheet before the court, directing the accused to appear on April 30. Further proceedings in the matter are awaited. DeshGujarat
