IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Thunderstorms & Rain in 15 Gujarat Districts

Ahmedabad: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a rain forecast along with a yellow alert for thunderstorms across several districts of Gujarat over the next 24 hours.
According to the IMD, light thunderstorms with lightning and surface winds of 30–40 kmph, accompanied by light to moderate rain at isolated places, are likely in districts including Kutch, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Aravalli, Morbi, Surendranagar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Botad, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Junagadh, and Gir Somnath. The Union Territory of Diu has also been placed under alert during the next 24 hours, ending at 8:30 am on Saturday.
Thereafter, rain activity is expected to subside for a few days and is likely to resume on April 7 in three districts namley Kutch, Banaskantha, and Sabarkantha.
The weather department has advised residents in these areas to remain cautious during thunderstorm activity, especially in open spaces, and to take necessary safety precautions against lightning and strong winds. DeshGujarat
