BJP Changes Two Candidates for Ahmedabad Civic Polls in Last-Minute Shuffle
April 11, 2026
Ahmedabad: In a last-minute development ahead of the nomination deadline for the upcoming civic elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has replaced two of its candidates in the Paldi and Jamalpur wards of the city.
In the Paldi ward, the party withdrew the name of its previously announced candidate, Ashish Shah, at the eleventh hour and instead fielded Jainik Vakil.
Following the sudden change, Vakil, who has now been repeated by the party, rushed to the election office to file his nomination before the deadline.
Meanwhile, in the Jamalpur ward, the candidate was reportedly changed following internal objections from party workers. The initially announced candidate, Kalpana Kahar, faced opposition at the local level due to having three children.
After the issue was escalated to the party leadership, the BJP withdrew her nomination and officially named Priyanka Kahar as the new candidate for Jamalpur. DeshGujarat
