Vadodara: The Vadodara Railway Division has installed rooftop solar power plants with a total capacity of 2.722 MW across key facilities, including Vadodara and Ankleshwar railway stations, during the financial year 2025–26, resulting in savings of ₹2.92 crore.

In line with Indian Railways’ green energy policy, the division is making significant progress in solar energy adoption. Divisional Railway Manager Raju Bhadke said that rooftop solar plants with a total capacity of 2.722 MW have been installed by the division’s electrical department. He added that the project is expected to generate annual savings of ₹2.92 crore, marking a significant step towards reducing energy costs.

Electrical Engineer (Power) Pradeep Meena said the initiative will also contribute substantially to environmental sustainability. The solar plants are expected to generate approximately 3.64 million units of electricity annually.

This will help reduce overall energy consumption and cut carbon dioxide emissions by around 2,632 tonnes per year, based on standard grid emission factors. Over an estimated lifespan of 25 years, the project is expected to prevent nearly 65,800 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. DeshGujarat
