Amreli: A one-year-old lion cub was killed after being hit by an unidentified vehicle on the Bhavnagar–Somnath National Highway near Dantardi village in Rajula taluka of Amreli district.
According to forest officials, the incident occurred when the cub was attempting to cross the road. It was struck by a vehicle, leading to its death on the spot.
Forest department teams rushed to the location after receiving information and conducted a panchnama of the carcass. The body of the cub was later sent for post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Following an investigation, officials traced and arrested the driver involved in the incident. Further legal action is being taken under wildlife protection laws.
