IPL 2026 Final: Western Railway Announces Special Mumbai – Ahmedabad Trains Ahead of GT vs RCB Clash

Ahmedabad: With the final match of IPL 2026 set to be played between home team Gujarat Titans (GT) and defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 31, Western Railway has announced four special trains between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to facilitate travel for cricket fans and passengers.

Though it has not been officially stated that these trains are being operated for the IPL final, the timing suggests that, given the huge rush witnessed ahead of every major match at the Motera Stadium, the Railways has decided to run these special services.

According to Western Railway, two pairs of special trains will operate on special fare. One pair will run between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad, while another pair will connect Bandra Terminus with Vatva and Ahmedabad.

Train No. 09021 Mumbai Central–Ahmedabad AC Superfast Special will depart Mumbai Central at 6:20 am on May 31 and reach Ahmedabad at 12:40 pm the same day. In the return direction, Train No. 09022 Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special will leave Ahmedabad at 3:10 pm and arrive at Mumbai Central at 9:45 pm.

The train will halt at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch and Vadodara stations in both directions. The special train will comprise AC Executive Chair Car, AC Chair Car and Anubhuti coaches.

Additionally, Train No. 09043 Bandra Terminus–Vatva Superfast Special will depart Bandra Terminus at 11:45 pm on June 1 and reach Vatva at 8:00 am the next day. The return service, Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus Superfast Special, will leave Ahmedabad at 3:50 am on June 1 and reach Bandra Terminus at 12:15 pm the same day.

These trains will halt at Borivali, Palghar, Vapi and Vadodara stations in both directions. Train No. 09043 will have additional halts at Udhna, Anand and Nadiad, while Train No. 09044 will also stop at Bharuch and Surat.

So, if you are looking to travel from Mumbai for the match, you can book a ticket on Train No. 09021 on May 31. After enjoying the title clash at the world’s largest cricket stadium, you can book a ticket on Train No. 09044 Ahmedabad–Bandra Terminus on June 1.

Western Railway said bookings for all four special trains will open from May 30 through PRS counters and the IRCTC website. Passengers can check detailed timings and coach composition on the Indian Railways enquiry portal. DeshGujarat
