Fake Blood Plasma Supply Racket Busted in Ahmedabad; 4 Held

Ahmedabad: The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Ahmedabad Rural Police has busted a major racket involving the adulteration of blood plasma bags supplied to a pharma company in the Changodar area for financial gain. Police have arrested four accused, including the mastermind, and seized goods worth approximately ₹12.06 lakh.

The operation was carried out by the SOG based on a tip-off that a person named Dineshbhai Umabhai Chaudhary was replacing original blood plasma units (bags) supplied as per the company’s order with adulterated plasma units at a pharma company located in the Changodar area. Based on this information, surveillance was set up, and the entire scam was exposed during the investigation.

A case was registered in this matter at Changodar Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Considering the seriousness of the crime, further investigation was handed over to PSI P.N. Gohil of the SOG. During the investigation, the remand of the accused was obtained, and the main mastermind of the racket was also arrested from Maharashtra.

How did the racket work?

The investigation revealed that the main accused, Dineshbhai Chaudhary, had previously worked as a blood plasma collection executive in pharmaceutical companies. Using his technical knowledge related to blood plasma, he used to adulterate the plasma units.

Accused Jitendra Solanki and Rafiq Khalifa were working as co-drivers in the blood plasma collection vehicle. They used to inform Dineshbhai before leaving for plasma collection from various districts of Maharashtra. Dineshbhai would then prepare the adulterated plasma as per the order.

After plasma collection, instead of supplying it directly to the company, the vehicle was taken to the accused’s house. There, the genuine and good-quality plasma units were kept separate and, in their place, adulterated plasma bags were arranged and supplied to the company.

The police seized the following items during the operation:

  • Blood Plasma Units – 1,140 pcs (valued at approximately ₹11 lakh)
  • Deep Freezer – 1 pc
  • Chemical Bottles – 3 pcs
  • Sealing Machine – 1 pc
  • Empty Plasma Bags – 34 pcs

A total of approximately ₹12.06 lakh worth of items were seized.
