Flash flood risk for Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, other areas of Gujarat till Wednesday morning: IMD

Surat: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), the weather department of the Government of India, has issued a flash flood warning for certain areas of Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, and Bhavnagar, valid until 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8.

According to the IMD bulletin issued by its Hydromet Division’s Flash Flood Guidance Cell, the districts namely Ahmedabad, Anand, Aravalli, Banaskantha, Bharuch, Chhota Udepur, Dahod, Dangs, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Mahisagar, Mehsana, Narmada, Navsari, Panchmahal, Sabarkantha, Surat, Tapi, Vadodara, Valsad, Botad, Bhavnagar, and Amreli are likely to experience moderate flash flood risk over a few watersheds and neighbourhoods for the next 24 hours (up to 5:30 a.m. on July 8).

Surface runoff and inundation may occur in fully saturated soils and low-lying areas, as indicated on the map, due to the expected rainfall in the next 24 hours.
