AMC Sacks Two Garbage Collection Vehicle Drivers for Unsafe Driving
July 14, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a special inspection drive to check the functioning of solid waste collection vehicles and their drivers, with a focus on improving road safety and ensuring the convenience of citizens.
The drive, undertaken by the Solid Waste Management Department, is aimed at ensuring that drivers of garbage collection vehicles follow traffic rules, avoid overspeeding and operate vehicles only with valid driving licences.
As part of the campaign, the civic body reviewed the daily operations of drivers deployed across the 48 wards under AMC’s seven zones. During inspections, officials checked for traffic rule violations, rash driving and overall compliance with safety norms.
Following the inspections, AMC removed two drivers from duty with immediate effect after they were found to be unfit to drive or negligent in performing their duties. The drivers have been identified as Amitbhai Ninama of Viratnagar ward and Jitendrabhai Muniya of Navrangpura ward.
The civic body has also initiated penal action against the agencies concerned for violating the prescribed rules. In addition, drivers have been provided training and guidance on safe driving practices as part of the vigilance initiative.
AMC said it will continue conducting such inspections regularly to ensure road safety and protect the interests of citizens. DeshGujarat
