AMC Seals 25 Properties Over Fire Safety and Illegal Construction Violations
July 21, 2026
Ahmedabad: Following the fire incident on July 18, 2026, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has launched a special drive to inspect the fire safety compliance and legal status of properties across the city.
As part of the drive, a total of 25 properties were sealed on Tuesday during a joint operation carried out by the Estate Department and the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services.
According to the civic body, action was taken against the properties due to concerns over their legal status and possible violations of fire safety norms. The sealing has been carried out as a precautionary measure, with public safety being given the highest priority.
AMC said further investigations into the sealed properties are underway. If violations of fire safety regulations, building rules, or other legal provisions are found during the inquiry, stricter legal action will be initiated against the property owners in accordance with the law.
Of the 25 properties sealed, 18 were sealed by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services for alleged fire safety violations, while seven were sealed by the Estate Department over illegal constructions and related violations.
The civic body said its drive against unsafe and illegal properties will continue in the coming days. DeshGujarat
