Ahmedabad City Records Over 11 Inches of Rain in 12 Hours; Area-Wise Rainfall Data Here

Ahmedabad: Heavy rains have been lashing the city since early morning, with the city recording an average rainfall of 127.28 mm (5.01 inches) during 12 hours, between 6 am and 6 pm, according to the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC). The intensity of the rain has varied across parts of the city, with several western and south-western localities receiving more than 9 inches of rain.
Bakrol recorded the highest rainfall in the city at 11.20 inches, followed by Bopal with 9.65 inches, Sarkhej Urban Health with 9.49 inches, Sarkhej with 9.17 inches, and Jodhpur with 9.17 inches. Other than these top five wards, Jodhpur Zonal also recorded extremely heavy downpour of up to 8.92 inches, while Maktampura saw 8.56 inches of rain.
Other areas that witnessed heavy rainfall included Bodakdev, Motera, Vatva, Science City, Thaltej, Asarwa, Vasna, Memnagar, Navrangpura, Gota and Usmanpura, all receiving over 5 inches of rain.
The heavy rainfall caused waterlogging on several roads and affected traffic movement in many parts of Ahmedabad, especially in the western and south-western areas, where the highest rainfall was recorded.
To discharge water from the Sabarmati River in the city, 20 gates of the Vasna Barrage have been opened, with an outflow of around 3,600 cusecs downstream. DeshGujarat
