43 housing societies, 66 areas are waterlogged in Ahmedabad due to heavy rain

Ahmedabad: A total of 148 waterlogging spots have been reported across the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) area due to continuous heavy rain in the city. Of these, water has been drained from 82 locations, while 66 locations remain waterlogged. In addition, complaints of waterlogging have been reported from 43 housing societies, the AMC said today. The civic body has continued pumping operations across various zones on a war footing to drain the accumulated water.

According to zone-wise statistics, the highest number of waterlogging spots (32) has been reported in the North-West Zone. Water has been drained from 29 of these locations, while work is still underway at the remaining three. The West Zone has reported 38 waterlogging spots, followed by the North Zone (24), East Zone (23), South Zone (15), and South-West Zone (9).

According to the AMC, the housing societies and residential complexes that have reported waterlogging include Harivilla Flats in Gota, Someshwar Complex in Chandlodia, Aashirwad Flats, Nilkanth Homes, Ashok Bungalow near Vaishno Devi Circle, Yashoda Apartment, Mahadev Flats, Deep Tower, Kanan Co-operative Housing Society, Park Avenue, Sursagar Flats in Rajwadi Estate (Juhapura), Vaibhav Tower, Sajanand Society, Paras Jiv Society, Shivshakti Society, Ekta Nagar, Starlisa Park, Anvesha Society, Shreenath Society (Blocks 2 and 3), Sakawat Nagar, Karishma Society, and Alif Flat, among others.

The AMC said pumping machines, Fire Brigade personnel, and Engineering Department teams have been deployed in the affected areas, and water is being continuously pumped out from flooded locations. DeshGujarat
