Valsad: Madhuban Dam Releases Up to 3 Lakh Cusecs Overnight; Low-Lying Areas Evacuated

Valsad: Authorities released water from the Madhuban Dam in phases during the night, with the discharge reaching up to 3 lakh cusecs, prompting evacuation measures in low-lying areas of Kaprada, Vapi and Umargam talukas.
The dam’s Full Reservoir Level (FRL) is 79.86 metres, while the water level stood at 75.90 metres on Thursday afternoon.
Before releasing water, the district administration issued advance alerts to villages likely to be affected downstream. Residents of Meghwal in Kaprada taluka; Lavacha, Dungra, Chanod, Namdha, Kunta and Chandor in Vapi taluka; and Kachhigam, Borigam, Mohangam, Jamburi, Achhari and Valvada in Umargam taluka were warned and advised to move to safer locations.
The Valsad district administration said it is continuously monitoring the situation at the dam and will regulate further water releases as required. Authorities are also maintaining surveillance in affected areas and ensuring safety and relief measures for residents. DeshGujarat
