Terminal of 3 Express Trains to Shift from Sabarmati to Gandhigram Railway Station from Next Month
July 28, 2026
Ahmedabad: In a move aimed at improving passenger convenience and strengthening rail connectivity within Ahmedabad, the Ministry of Railways had earlier this year approved shifting the terminal station of three train pairs from Sabarmati to Gandhigram. The change will come into effect from the last week of August 2026, Western Railway announced.
The trains affected are the Jodhpur-Gandhigram Express, Agra Cantt-Gandhigram Express, and Gwalior-Gandhigram Express. All three services will also get an additional stoppage at Chandkheda Road railway station.
The 14822 Gandhigram-Jodhpur Express will originate from Gandhigram instead of Sabarmati from August 27, departing daily at 7:00 am. The return 14821 Jodhpur-Gandhigram Express will terminate at Gandhigram from August 26. Both trains will halt at Chandkheda Road for two minutes.
The 12548/12547 Gandhigram-Agra Cantt Express, which runs four days a week, will operate from Gandhigram from August 26, while the return service from Agra Cantt will terminate at Gandhigram from August 25. The train will also stop at Chandkheda Road in both directions.
Similarly, the 22548/22547 Gandhigram-Gwalior Superfast Express, a tri-weekly service, will begin operating from Gandhigram from August 27, with the return service reaching Gandhigram from August 26. It too will have a scheduled halt at Chandkheda Road station.
Railway officials said the changes are intended to improve accessibility for passengers travelling within Ahmedabad and provide better connectivity through Gandhigram station.
Passengers have been advised to check the latest schedules, stoppages, and other updates on the official railway enquiry portal before planning their journey. DeshGujarat
