AMC Razes Illegal Constructions in Paldi
July 29, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Tuesday demolished illegal constructions at three locations in Paldi, including an unauthorised RCC room allegedly built by former BJP councillor Girish Arvindbhai Patel behind his Jalaram Khaman outlet near Mahalaxmi Crossroads.
The room-like structure, located behind Patel’s eatery, had been under the civic body’s scanner for nearly two years. Although demolition was proposed earlier, the action was reportedly put on hold following the intervention of senior AMC officials. The structure was eventually razed during Tuesday’s demolition drive.
The unauthorised construction had also come under scrutiny as it was located within the restricted buffer zone of a protected heritage monument.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had earlier served a notice to Patel over the alleged violation. However, despite the notice, the matter remained pending for almost two years before the AMC carried out the demolition. DeshGujarat
