21 Food Samples Fail AMC Quality Tests; 18 Found Substandard, 3 Unsafe

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has found 21 food samples collected from eateries, food manufacturers, dairies and street vendors across the city to be either unsafe or substandard during food safety inspections conducted under the Food Safety and Standards Act in July. According to the civic body, 18 samples were found to be substandard, while three were classified as unsafe.

According to the list released by the AMC, the non-conforming samples collected from various zones of the city include garlic paste, mava, fryums, Manchurian, vegetable puff, jeera-flavoured drink, clove, butter, refined cottonseed oil, sweet chutney, juice, mosambi juice, tomato chutney, ghee, cheese and premium malai paneer.

The AMC report states that samples of Kesari Nandan Spice brand turmeric powder and coriander powder collected from Jai Mataji Traders in Juna Madhupura, as well as Dhariwala brand fryums Bachcho Ka Pasta collected from Aman Sales Agency in Amraiwadi, have been declared unsafe.

Meanwhile, samples of various food items collected from establishments including Danny Coffee Bar, Burhanpur Mawa Jalebi, Shri Ambika Provision Stores, Bhairavnath Punjabi Tadka, Shakti Dabeli & Vadapau, Tanmay Enterprises, Jai Ambe Organics, DRS Food Point, Lee Nam Foods Pvt. Ltd., Out of the Box, Swapan Foods LLP, Janak Virendrabhai Modi, Bunty Puff House and Swagat Caterers Pvt. Ltd. have been declared substandard.

The AMC said it will initiate the necessary legal action under the Food Safety and Standards Act. The civic body has also urged food manufacturers, vendors and traders to comply with the prescribed quality standards and ensure that consumers are provided with safe, quality food products. DeshGujarat
