Mahesh Pav Bhaji Outlet Faces SMC Action Over Stale Food Complaint

Surat: Complaints of poor hygiene and stale food at popular food outlets in Surat have raised concerns over food safety and public health. The Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) Food and Health Department inspected the well-known Mahesh Pav Bhaji restaurant on Honey Park Road in Adajan after a complaint that stale curry and rotten grapes were served with Kashmiri Pulao. The civic body collected food samples for laboratory testing and imposed an administrative charges of Rs 3,000 on the operator.

The action came after a customer complained of being served suspected stale food at the restaurant. A joint team from the SMC Health and Food Safety Department conducted a surprise inspection of the premises and checked the kitchen, cleanliness and storage of raw materials.

The Food Department collected samples of the suspected food items and sent them to the Public Health Laboratory for analysis. Civic officials also found deficiencies at the premises and directed the operator to strictly comply with food safety and hygiene regulations. DeshGujarat
