Ahmedabad: Amid its ongoing crackdown on adulterated food products and analogue paneer, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed three establishments for violating food safety norms and seized 2,570 kg of food products and ghee.
The sealed units are Bombay Biryani in Navrangpura ward, Royal Dairy & Sweets in Kalupur and Aishree Khodiyar Gruh Udyog in Gota ward.
At Aishree Khodiyar Gruh Udyog in Meldi Estate, Gota, AMC officials seized 2,015 kg of food products worth Rs 70,800, including dates, tamarind and chutney. Samples of date-tamarind chutney, fruit squash and fruit syrup were collected and sent to a public laboratory for testing after the products were found to be prepared under unhygienic conditions.
Separately, 555 kg of substandard ‘Ramsons desi ghee’ worth Rs 3.15 lakh was seized from Mahavir Ghee Bhandar in Advani Market, Madhupura, during a follow-up inspection on Monday. The action followed the seizure of 1,140 kg of ghee worth Rs 7.17 lakh after samples of ‘Ramsons desi ghee’ and ‘Nova pure ghee’ were found to be substandard.
An AMC official said food businesses must have valid licences and pest-control certificates. The civic body is sealing units operating without the required documents as well as licensed establishments found violating hygiene norms. DeshGujarat
