16 more dairy, sweet, gathiya shops procure rapid testing kits after AMC directive

Ahmedabad: Following a directive from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Food Department, sweet and snack traders have started keeping Rapid Food Testing Kits at their establishments to conduct preliminary quality checks and help ensure that consumers get safe and quality food.

A day after Gwalia Sweets procured 15 rapid testing kits for its 15 outlets, another 16 establishments have collectively procured 53 kits. This takes the total number of rapid testing kits procured so far to 68, the civic body said.

The AMC said its Food Department has been providing the necessary guidance and support to other sweet and snack traders to encourage them to procure such kits.

Among the establishments that have procured the kits are Mayur Dairy and Sweets in Nikol (4 kits), Bhogilal Mulchand on Ashram Road (6), Ras Ranjan Food Pvt Ltd in Navrangpura (1), Jay Hind Sweets in Navrangpura (4), Saurashtra Gathiya in Navrangpura (1), Praful Mithai Ghar in Sabarmati (1), Dhanlaxmi Food Products in Sabarmati (1), Praful Sweets and Namkeen in Sabarmati (1), Chamunda Chavana and Sweet Mart in Thaltej (1), Iskcon Gathiya in Prahladnagar (9), Karnavati Dairy in Ahmedabad (15), Mohanlal Mithaiwala in Navrangpura (3), Shri Umiya Dairy in Gota (1), Sagar Kothari Budhalal Dairy near Jodhpur Cross Road (2), Sadvichar Chavana Kendra in Maninagar (1), and Sweet Raga India LLP on Satellite Road (2).

The civic body said traders will be responsible for regularly using the kits to carry out preliminary quality checks of food products and ensuring that safe and quality food is made available to customers.

The AMC Food Department is also encouraging other sweet and snack traders to obtain rapid testing kits and is providing them with the required assistance and guidance. DeshGujarat
