September 10, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has clarified the safety and approval requirements for selling firecrackers in the city, with separate rules applicable to shops operating inside buildings and temporary stalls set up on open plots.
Addressing the media after the Standing Committee meeting, Chairman Kamlesh Patel said that for firecracker sales in a closed premises, meaning a place enclosed by walls on all sides, sellers must obtain Building Use (BU) permission from the AMC, along with No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the police and fire departments.
For sales on an open plot, BU permission from the AMC is not required, provided the seller obtains the necessary fire and police NOCs and sets up a shed in accordance with the prescribed rules.
The AMC Standing Committee Chairman said sellers operating from open plots would also have to comply with all applicable permissions and fire-safety requirements at the location.
The clarification comes ahead of the festive season, when demand for firecrackers typically increases, and is aimed at ensuring that firecracker sales are carried out only from approved locations while maintaining public safety. DeshGujarat
