800-bed hospital and medical college to come up on UNM campus in Vyara

Surat: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate the redeveloped 317-bed UNM General Hospital in Vyara, Tapi district, on Tuesday. He will also lay the foundation stone for a proposed 800-bed hospital and medical college on the same campus.

The upgraded hospital, which will serve as a transitional facility until the new hospital is built, has 383 rooms, including 217 general ward beds and 46 critical-care beds. It also has 24 dedicated OPD rooms covering 17 clinical specialities and is equipped to handle around 1,200 patients daily.

The facility also includes four operation theatres and a post-mortem facility. Its critical-care infrastructure comprises 34 ICU beds, 12 NICU/PICU beds and six emergency beds.

Other facilities include an eight-bed dialysis unit, Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD), Kangaroo Mother Care room and a Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) ward. The hospital has also been equipped with new-generation biomedical equipment.

The proposed 800-bed hospital will have 150 medical seats and an attached hostel. The project is being developed under a public-private partnership between the Torrent Group’s UNM Foundation and the Gujarat government under a 33-year concession agreement. DeshGujarat
