Rs 583.85 crore development projects to be launched in Ahmedabad on Sept 24

Ahmedabad: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel will inaugurate and dedicate development works worth Rs 279.80 crore carried out by the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Thursday. He will also lay the foundation stones for civic projects worth Rs 304.05 crore.

Together, the projects being inaugurated and those for which foundation stones will be laid are worth Rs 583.85 crore. They cover road and bridge infrastructure, housing, drainage, parking, electric bus facilities, heritage development and emergency services.

Among the major projects to be inaugurated are a Rs 127.92-crore four-lane flyover at Vadaj Junction and a Rs 98.60-crore four-lane railway overbridge at Level Crossing-24 on the Ahmedabad-Botad railway line.

Other projects to be inaugurated include:

  • Rs 22.24 crore: Construction of 328 EWS houses out of 1,190 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana at Thaltej.
  • Rs 19.74 crore: Procurement of 55 First Response Vehicles (FRVs) for the AMC Fire and Emergency Services.
  • Rs 3.40 crore: Procurement of 10 boats with engines for emergency and rescue operations.
  • Rs 7.90 crore: Redevelopment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Slum Rehabilitation and Redevelopment Policy, 2013, at Shahibaug, involving 106 houses and 46 shops.

Rs 304.05 crore in new projects

The Chief Minister will also lay the foundation stones for civic works worth Rs 304.05 crore. These include a Rs 72.78-crore road network development project in the Rampir Tekra area of Stadium Ward and a Rs 65.51-crore project to rehabilitate a 1,800-mm-diameter main sewer line in the South Zone.

The other projects include:

  • Rs 61.81 crore: Construction of a new sewage/drainage pumping station and rising pipeline at Navapura.
  • Rs 61.89 crore: Development of a parking and charging station in the East Zone at TP Scheme No. 110 (Nikol-Kathwada).
  • Rs 28.08 crore: Development of infrastructure for a bus parking and charging station for electric buses in the 35-Gandhinagar South Ward, on a plot measuring around 18,665 square metres.
  • Rs 13.98 crore: Heritage and tourism development along the eastern bank of the Sabarmati River in the Jamalpur area.

The projects cover several AMC zones and focus on improving Ahmedabad’s transport and civic infrastructure, housing and emergency-response facilities. DeshGujarat
