30 firecracker shops sealed in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on Wednesday sealed around 30 firecracker shops near Kalupur Tower after the shopkeepers failed to produce the required documents during an inspection.

Inspections were carried out at 30 firecracker shops in the Central Zone, covering the stretch from Kalupur Gate to Kalupur Tower. The authorities sought documents including BU permission, a Fire NOC, explosive safety certificates and police permits. As the shopkeepers failed to provide adequate documentation, the Estate Department sealed the shops located in the Khadia-1 and Dariyapur wards.

All the shopkeepers were issued notices and instructed to submit an explanation within three days. The sealed firecracker shops will not be allowed to reopen until they submit proof of the required authorisations. DeshGujarat
