AMC orders night inspections of food markets during Navratri, Diwali

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has directed its Health Department to intensify inspections of food markets during the upcoming Navratri and Diwali festivals, including conducting checks during night hours.

The instructions were issued during the weekly meeting of the AMC Standing Committee on Thursday as the city is expected to see increased activity at food stalls and markets during the festive season.

Along with routine daytime inspections, health officials have been asked to conduct night-time checks to ensure that food being sold to citizens meets required quality, hygiene and safety standards.

Special attention will be given to roadside food stalls and other establishments that witness higher footfall during Navratri.

The civic body has also warned that action will be taken against food businesses found compromising public health and violating prescribed standards. DeshGujarat
