Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) is organising a special Garba event titled ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba’ on October 7, ahead of Navratri to commemorate 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding constitutional office.
The event will feature a performance by Atul Purohit, the globally renowned Garba singer, along with his group. Entry to the event will be free. It is interesting to note that Atul Purohit is former employee of VMC. United Way, the organization that holds Atul Purohit’s Garba every year has partnered with VMC to hold this free event.
A major attraction of the programme will be an attempt to enter the Guinness World Records for the highest number of Garba players performing at a single ground. The event is being organised with a distinctive theme linking Garba with the idea of a Viksit Bharat.
Vadodara which is know as Samskari Nagari, Kala Nagari and also Garba Capital of the world had captured national attention in September with the ‘Namo for Viksit Bharat’ event, which marked a distinctive format for a government programme. Prime Minister Modi made his entry at the event to the tune of a popular song and urged residents to maintain cleanliness.
The upcoming ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba’ is another major public event being organised by the VMC, with the Guinness World Record attempt expected to be one of its key highlights. DeshGujarat
