Vadodara to Host Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba at United Way Grounds

Vadodara, October 7, 2026: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will organise the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba” at the United Way Garba Grounds in Vadodara on Wednesday as part of the Navratri celebrations.

The event will feature singer and folk artist Atul Dada Purohit. Entry to the Garba will be free for citizens, with registration to be carried out through a link provided for Guinness World Records (GWR) verification.

The event will focus on four themes — Vadodara’s cultural heritage, cleanliness, women’s empowerment and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

As part of the programme, the city’s iconic banyan tree, or “Vad”, will be unveiled as a symbol of Vadodara’s identity. The city derives its name from the banyan tree, and the unveiling will involve the participation of local youth.

The event will also feature a “Swachh Vadodara” pledge under the “Swachhta Se Swagat” campaign, with citizens committing themselves to cleanliness and civic responsibility.

Another segment will highlight “Nari Shakti”, with the celebration dedicated to Maa Shakti during Navratri. The programme will recognise the participation and contribution of women in the city.

Participants will also take a collective “Sankalp for Viksit Bharat 2047”, pledging to contribute towards the development of India by 2047 through responsible and active citizenship.

The organisers are also planning a large-scale collective Garba as an attempt to create a world record linked to the Viksit Bharat 2047 theme.

The event is being organised jointly by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), Vadodara, and United Way of Baroda. DeshGujarat
