Vadodara sets Guinness Record for Largest Garba Dance

Vadodara: Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba event organized by the Vadodara Municipal Corporation(VMC), jointly with United Ways Vadodara and participated by people of Vadodara has set Guinness World Record for largest Garba dance. The Garba dance was performed by nearly 50,000 people. The record was attempted post 11 pm in Tran Tali rhythm. Guinness book representative who was present on the ground handed over certificate to Municipal Commissioner Arun Mahesh Babu. Singer Atul Purohit, a former employee of VMC and top Garba singer dedicated this record to people of Vadodara. Municipal Commissioner made announcement that as the record certificate has named people of Vadodara as recipient of the award, the certificate will be made available on VMC website, so that people of Vadodara can download and keep it.

With only four days left for Navratri of October 2026, ‘Developed India Sankalp Garba’ was organized at the Garba Ground here in a joint initiative of Vadodara Municipal Corporation and United Way Vadodara. An estimated around 50 thousand people played Garba together and showed commitment for ‘Developed Gujarat through Developed Vadodara’.

At the beginning of this Garba evening, the city’s identity symbol ‘Vad’ was unveiled by the dignitaries present. The program, which started with the aarti of Maa Ambe, also organized a special Garba based on four themes – Swachh Bharat, Nari Shakti, Vakshatra Bharat and Vad. In which, based on the four themes, various groups presented special messages and performed Garba with banners and play cards in hand.

Along with this, the people of Vadodara collectively took the pledge of ‘Swachh Vadodara’ and joined the ‘Swachhta Se Swagat’ campaign as volunteers, showing their commitment to make Vadodara clean and beautiful every day.

Dedicated to the resolution of ‘Vikasit Bharat 2047’, this Garba festival instilled a collective commitment and sense of faith for building the country as a developed and prosperous nation by 2047. The future of the country is in the hands of every citizen and for that, the people of Vadodara resolved to create responsible, conscious and dedicated citizens.

The program was supported by Atul Dada Purohit, a favorite Garba singer of the youth community and a famous folk artist.

On this occasion, MLA Keyurbhai Rokadiya, Vadodara Municipal Corporation Commissioner Mahesh Arun Babu, former Minister Jitubhai Sukhdiya, various local dignitaries, Vadodara’s garba players and sportsmen were present in the form of a large crowd and enjoyed the fun of Garba.

It is worth noting that Vadodara, which was earlier known as Baroda. Its noble and rich heritage of art, culture and traditions has given it the unique identity of a city of art. A special identity as the capital of Garba in the world is associated with Vadodara and the world’s largest Garba festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and joy at the United Way ground of this city of art.
