Ahmedabad’s First Rotary Parking Facility is Taking Shape ; 12 Cars can be Parked in Space for 2

Ahmedabad, October 8, 2026: Ahmedabad is set to get its first modern rotary parking facility, with construction underway at the Ratanpol junction near Relief Road, one of the city’s busiest commercial areas.

The initiative has been undertaken by the Central Zone Engineering Department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) with the objective of expanding parking capacity and providing a more organized and convenient parking facility for traders, shoppers and visitors in the area.

The rotary parking system is designed to make more efficient use of limited urban space. A key feature of the facility is its ability to accommodate around 12 cars simultaneously in an area that would normally accommodate only two cars. This represents an increase in parking capacity of approximately six times compared with conventional parking in the same footprint.

The project is expected to provide a more systematic parking arrangement in the densely populated commercial zone, where limited parking space and heavy pedestrian and vehicular movement often create challenges for visitors and businesses.

According to the civic authorities, the automated-style parking arrangement will help make parking more accessible, secure and organized, while optimizing the use of available land.

The facility is also expected to contribute to efforts to reduce traffic congestion around Relief Road and Ratanpol by improving the availability and management of parking spaces. By accommodating more vehicles within a relatively small area, the system could reduce the need for motorists to search for roadside parking.

The project marks an effort by the AMC to introduce modern parking solutions in high-density commercial areas of Ahmedabad, where conventional surface parking is constrained by limited space.

Once completed, the Ratanpol rotary parking facility is expected to offer traders, shoppers and other visitors a more streamlined parking option while supporting better traffic management in the surrounding Relief Road area. DeshGujarat
