AMC Seals Farsan Unit Over Non-Permitted Colours, Reused Oil; Seizes 1010 Kg Stock

Ahmedabad: The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has sealed A.N. Gruh Udyog, a farsan manufacturing unit in the Danilimda area, and seized 1,010 kg of food products after an inspection allegedly found multiple food safety and hygiene violations, including the use of non-permitted colours in savoury snacks and the repeated use of frying oil.

The AMC’s Health and Food Department inspected the unit at Godown No. 4, Goodluck Estate, Shalimar Estate, in Danilimda as part of its ongoing drive to ensure food safety and protect public health.

During the inspection, officials found that the unit was not complying with Schedule 4 requirements under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. The premises allegedly lacked proper hygiene, while workers were found operating without caps or hairnets and aprons.

The inspection also revealed the alleged use of non-permitted food colours in farsan and the repeated use of the same frying oil. Officials further found that the unit was packaging farsan without complying with the labelling requirements prescribed by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).

Following the inspection, the department seized or withheld a total of 1,010 kg of food products, including maida (refined wheat flour), spices, peanuts, jhini sev and pharsi puri.

The AMC has urged all food business operators in the city to comply with food safety regulations and maintain proper standards of cleanliness and hygiene to safeguard public health. DeshGujarat
