AMC Rejects ₹5.3 Crore Pirana-Piplaj Bridge Tender Over Price Escalation Clause
October 22, 2026
Ahmedabad: A ₹5.3 crore proposal to replace a dilapidated bridge on Pirana-Piplaj Road has hit a roadblock after the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) included a price escalation clause that reportedly violated state government guidelines.
The bridge, located over a culvert connecting the Sardar Patel Ring Road in Lambha ward, is planned to be replaced with a new two-lane structure.
The AMC’s Roads and Buildings (R&B) Committee rejected the proposal on Wednesday and directed officials to invite fresh tenders in line with state guidelines.
Committee chairman Jainik Vakil said price escalation for petrol, oil and lubricants (POL), labour and other materials is permitted only for projects lasting more than 12 months. Since the bridge work is scheduled to take exactly 12 months, the tender must be reissued without the clause, subject to confirmation of the applicable guidelines. DeshGujarat
