TARIL to Invest ₹1,250 Crore in Three Greenfield Plants in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Transformers and Rectifiers (India) Limited (TARIL) has announced an investment of Rs. 1,250 crore to establish three greenfield manufacturing plants at its Chiyada manufacturing complex in Gujarat, according to a company press release.

The investment comes as India expands its power infrastructure to meet rising electricity demand, integrate renewable energy and modernise its transmission network.

The new facilities will manufacture bushings (OIP, RIP and RIF up to 800 kV), pressboard and insulation materials, and continuously transposed conductors (CTC). These are critical components used in high-voltage transformer manufacturing and play an essential role in strengthening India’s power transmission infrastructure.

According to the company, domestic manufacturing of these components will help reduce import dependence, strengthen supply chain resilience and improve the availability of critical equipment for India’s rapidly expanding transmission and distribution network.

The three plants will operate under a wholly owned consolidated ancillary subsidiary of TARIL, giving the company control over manufacturing quality, technology, procurement and long-term strategic direction.

Construction of the facilities began in December 2025, with commercial operations expected to commence in the first quarter of FY 2027-28. Once fully operational, the plants are expected to generate annual revenue of approximately Rs. 2,000 crore and create more than 1,000 direct jobs across engineering, manufacturing, operations, quality assurance, and research and development.

The bushing plant will manufacture oil-impregnated paper (OIP), resin-impregnated paper (RIP) and resin-impregnated fibre (RIF) bushings rated up to 800 kV. These are among the technologically advanced components used in extra-high-voltage transformers.

Together with the pressboard and insulation materials and CTC facilities, the plants are expected to strengthen TARIL’s vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities and expand India’s domestic capacity to produce critical power equipment components.

Commenting on the investment, Jitendra Mamtora, chairman of TARIL, said India’s ambition to become a developed nation by 2047 would require a robust and future-ready power infrastructure ecosystem.

He said the investment would support this national objective by strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities for critical transformer components, reducing import dependence and contributing to a more resilient power infrastructure ecosystem serving India and global markets. DeshGujarat
