Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad branch of the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) has filed a prosecution complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, in connection with a disproportionate assets case against Prashant Baldevbhai Rabari, an employee of Western Railway.
According to the ED, the accused allegedly adopted corrupt practices to acquire multiple movable and immovable properties and assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The ED initiated its investigation based on an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Gandhinagar, under various provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, relating to scheduled offences under the PMLA.
The investigation revealed that Rabari allegedly amassed disproportionate assets worth approximately ₹2.58 crore during his employment with Western Railway. The assets were allegedly acquired through corrupt and illegal activities during the check period from January 1, 2017, to February 2, 2021, and were held in his name and that of his wife.
Following a detailed investigation, the ED’s Ahmedabad office issued a provisional attachment order covering immovable properties valued at ₹2,00,44,981, allegedly acquired through the direct use of proceeds of crime. The agency subsequently filed a prosecution complaint before the designated PMLA court in Bhadra, Ahmedabad. DeshGujarat
