Railways Approves Two New Daily MEMU Trains Between Sabarmati and Mahesana

Sabarmati: The Ministry of Railways has approved the introduction of two pairs of Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train services between Sabarmati and Mahesana via Becharaji, aiming to improve rail connectivity for passengers travelling along the route.

According to a Railway Board communication issued in October 2026, the new services will operate daily and halt at eight stations along the route. The ministry has also approved the permanent cancellation of the existing Sabarmati–Katosan Road MEMU service, numbered 69249/69250.

The first pair of services, numbered 69127 and 69128, will connect Sabarmati and Mahesana. Train 69127 will depart from Sabarmati at 6:40 am and reach Mahesana at 9:45 am. On the return journey, train 69128 will leave Mahesana at 4:40 pm and arrive at Sabarmati at 8:30 pm.

The second pair, numbered 69131 and 69132, will provide another connection between the two stations. Train 69131 will depart from Sabarmati at 5:05 pm and reach Mahesana at 8:25 pm. The return service, train 69132, will leave Mahesana at 7:05 am and arrive at Sabarmati at 10:20 am.

Both pairs of trains will have commercial stoppages at Chandkheda Road, Kalol, Kadi, Bhoyani, Katosan Road, Becharaji, Chanasma and Ranuj.

The Railway Board has specified Vadodara MEMU Shed for primary maintenance of the services. The first pair will use an existing rake from the 69249/69250 Sabarmati–Katosan Road MEMU service, while the second pair will require one eight-coach HRPT MEMU rake.

The ministry has directed Western Railway to introduce the services at the earliest convenient date and give wide publicity to the changes. An inaugural run may also be organised as a special service, if required.

The exact date on which the new services will begin has not yet been specified in the Railway Board communication. DeshGujarat
